Hair Loss

Hair loss treatment

Hair is not only an adornment but also an indicator of our health. There can be various causes for excessive hair loss (alopecia) – this often indicates that the body is ill and also is one of the symptoms of a disease. If you notice excessive hair loss, or the hair becomes thinner or recedes at any age (for both women and men), it is recommended to consult a dermatologist or trichologist.

Every day a person loses an average of 50–100 hairs, which is normal!

The most common causes of hair loss

  • Androgenic alopecia in men (i.e., male pattern baldness). It can also occur in women because they too can carry a gene that may contain receptors in the hair follicles that are sensitive to male hormones.
  • Diffuse hair loss – the most common causes are acute or chronic diseases, hormonal background, various deficiency states and reaction to medications. Acute hair loss usually begins 2–3 months after exposure to a pathological factor.
  • Focal alopecia can manifest as appearance of separate focal hairless patches or formation of many confluent hairless areas and even complete hair loss throughout the body. Focal hair loss is an autoimmune disease.

The specialist will be able to determine the most effective hair treatment method by performing the necessary examinations, summarizing the anamnesis and learning the rhythm of the client's life (environment, diet, harmful habits).

 The Anti-Aging Institute, using the extensive resources of the Veselības centrs 4 group, provides innovative hair treatment methods:

Mesenchymal stem cell therapy – stem cells derived from a person's own adipose tissue (approximately 80–100 ml) are used in this therapy. It is based on the ability of mesenchymal stem cells to treat degenerative and atrophic tissue changes.

Following mini liposuction, stem cells are isolated from the adipose tissue, activated and injected into the tissues that need regeneration. Once injected into the scalp, stem cells release growth factors and cytokines that "emit" a growth signal promoting the formation of new hair follicles. The result is visible after about 3 months.

Advantages:

  • only autologues are used – tissue derived from the person themselves, so there is no risk of rejection by the immune system or allergies;
  • the procedure is performed within one day.

Plasma injection into the skin: Platelet Rich Fibrin or PRF and Platelet rich plasma or PRP

The PRF procedure uses the healing ability of the patient's blood to improve weak structures, the condition of hair that has lost its vitality. During the procedure, a small amount of blood is taken from the patient and centrifuged. At the end of the cycle, a special blood structure is obtained – fibrin. The cells in the PRF – platelets, leukocytes, lymphocytes, monocytes, neutrophils and stem cells – are concentrated on a fibrin matrix that has a gel-like consistency.

The fibrin matrix evenly releases blood cell growth factor concentrate, which stimulates collagen synthesis and blood supply for two weeks.

The PRP method uses platelet growth factor effect. By separating erythrocytes and leukocytes from the patient's blood by centrifugation, the part of the plasma that contains platelets is obtained. It is activated to make platelets release growth factors. Thanks to PRP, both skin quality and hair volume and structure improve. To achieve the desired effect, the procedures can be repeated, but not sooner than after one month.

Advantages of PRF and PRP:

  • 100% natural technology;
  • the method is completely safe and harmless, it does not cause allergic side effects;
  • quick procedure: 20–40 minutes without analgesia.

Laser therapy with a laser helmet – during the procedure, the scalp is treated with an infrared biostimulating laser, promoting blood circulation, absorption of various substances and stimulating dermal papilla cells, as a result of which the hair strengthens, grows faster and thicker. Hair loss stops on average after the sixth procedure.

Advantages:

  • practically no contraindications;
  • may be used for all age groups.

Mesoprocedures – in the hairy part of the head, a mesococktail or active substances (amino acids and/or vitamins such as vitamin B – biotin or their cocktail) are injected into the dermis, which can stimulate the growth of the hair shaft, thus feeding the hair roots, which are located 2–4 mm deep. This is the proven optimal depth, where the injected preparation has the greatest effect on improving hair growth and quality.  The procedure does not require special preparation. It is not recommended to take aspirin or drink coffee before it.

Five signals that you need to see a dermatologist or trichologist:

  • If the hair loss is extreme, and in a short time (up to two weeks) a decrease in the total amount of hair is noticeable.
  • If the hair loss does not stop and continues for more than three months.
  • If the hair falls out in patches and there are irregularly shaped bald patches or areas of broken hair.
  • If there is a pronounced itching of the scalp, scabs, signs of inflammation and discomfort.
  • If the volume of hair is permanently decreasing over the period of many years and there are people in the family who suffer from baldness.

When going to a dermatologist, trichologist, it is important not to wash or comb your hair for 24 hours in order to better assess the intensity of hair loss.
