Gut Microbiome Composition Analysis with the Option of a Consultation with a Gastroenterologist or Preventive Medicine Specialist
Test Kit for Determining Gut Microbiome Composition
Gut microbiome composition analysis is performed using a stool sample collected at home. It provides descriptive information about the composition and diversity of gut microorganisms detected in the sample and their possible impact on health.
The test kit can be purchased at the reception desk of the Anti-Aging Institute clinic or from the online shop coremicrobiome.lv.
After collecting the sample at home, it must be returned to the clinic. The expiry date and storage conditions of the kit are indicated on the packaging. After collection, the sample must be stored and delivered to the clinic in accordance with the instructions for use.
What Information Is Included in the Analysis Report?
The gut microbiome composition analysis report includes:
- the distribution of microorganism groups;
- microbiome diversity;
- dominant microorganism groups;
- a descriptive comparison with reference data;
- possible associations with health status;
- possible dietary and lifestyle recommendations.
The client receives an individual information report and general dietary and lifestyle recommendations intended for personal information and for monitoring changes in microbiome composition.
Why Repeat the Analysis?
A single analysis describes the microbiome composition detected in the sample at the specific time when the sample was submitted. Repeated analyses performed under comparable conditions allow a descriptive comparison of microbiome composition at different points in time, for example, following changes in diet or lifestyle.
By performing at least four microbiome analyses at intervals of at least three months, it is possible to obtain a core microbiome report. The core microbiome is the almost unchanging part of the gut microbiome that develops by approximately five years of age. It changes very little over a person’s lifetime and, similarly to genetic tests, can be used to predict the probability of diseases and to monitor diseases.
How Is the Analysis Performed?
- Purchase a gut microbiome composition analysis kit at the Anti-Aging Institute clinic reception desk or from the online shop coremicrobiome.lv.
- Collect a stool sample at home, following the instructions for use provided with the kit.
- Complete the questionnaire included with the kit.
- Return the stool sample, together with its assigned identification code, to the clinic, following the storage and delivery conditions specified in the instructions for use.
- Receive an information report intended for the client by email.
- As part of the analysis, an extended report is prepared on the microbiome composition indicators detected in the sample.
- If you wish, book a separate, optional consultation with a gastroenterologist or preventive medicine specialist at the Anti-Aging Institute to discuss the contents of the report. The consultation lasts 60 minutes and costs EUR 200.
Consultation with a Gastroenterologist or Preventive Medicine Specialist
A separate consultation regarding the contents of the analysis report is available with “Veselības centrs 4” leading gastroenterologist Dr med. Vita Skuja – Gastroenterologist, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Specialist, Ultrasonography Specialist and Internist – as well as Dr Jūlija Balandina, a Family Physician and Preventive Medicine Specialist at the Anti-Aging Institute.
A consultation with a gastroenterologist or preventive medicine specialist is a separate medical service. During the consultation, the doctor helps the client understand the contents of the information report and answers questions about the microbiome composition indicators presented in it.
Medical decisions are not made solely on the basis of the results of this analysis. If symptoms are present or a medical condition is suspected, further medical assessment is required, including additional medical examinations and consultations with doctors.
